After dispensing a portion of food, the lid closes to prevent insects from entering. Inside the container is a rotor with arms that mix the contents and prevent food from getting stuck. The device is compatible with various types of food: freeze-dried, dry, mixed, and air-dried.

The PetKit Yumshare Dual Hopper can be powered from two sources - from a power outlet, which is the main power source, or from five AAA batteries, which are used in the event of a power outage.
